Congrats to my beautiful wife for getting a promotion at work. She's happy and will get a pretty good raise so that is nice. Now we can turn the heat on. I am sad though because she is flying to Dallas today and I will be all alone until Saturday night. I will probably play Wii.

We are supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow on Thursday night. I'm OK with that. I like snow although my doggies won't come back inside when it is snowy out. I might have mentioned that before, but you'll get over it.

I'm considering ending my half marathon training. I don't really want to but I really don't feel like running today. Maybe I'll just show up to the race in April and see how it goes. I probably won't go into cardiac arrest right?

The blogger spellcheck told me that I spelled Wii wrong. They need to get with it.

It's the weatherman

This has been one of the crazier weather days I can think of. I woke up today and it was around 55 or so. At lunchtime I took the dogs for a walk and it was around 65. Now it is 4 pm and it is 28 and snowing. Holy shit!

So if you have not seen it you have to see "Tim and Eric's awesome show great job." It is on cartoon network and it is probably on the internets too. It is insane but very funny.

I think I ate too much pizza at lemmons again last night. Now when I fart it smells like lemmons pizza. Well it smells like lemmons pizza with shit as a topping. Why can't I eat well.

I started my training to run a half marathon in April. Who's with me?

Captain Bring Down

Lately everyone is dying. What the Fudge?

You got Heath Ledger who died on Tuesday. For some reason I was kind of affected by that news. I think it is more that it was one of those headlines I hadn't expected to see. I was hoping that I misread and it said Dustin Diamond, but no such luck. He was about my age and seemed like a respectable dude.

I have been reading "The Road" which is a great book so far. I can't seem to put it down. It is very much of a downer. Almost everyone in it is dead and gone.

Then yesterday Casey found out that a girl she went to high school with was murdered this week. She had some old loser boyfriend (43) that shot her when she broke up with him. She worked at some place for troubled youths or something like that. Casey has not talked to her lately, but she said she was a great person. She went up to Omaha to go to her funeral.

You know what is funny: People walking straight into glass doors and spilling coffee all over themselves.

Again I have been shirking my blogging responsibilities for too long.

I started reading The Road last night and I like it a lot so far. I just think the idea of a couple of people roaming the world post apocolypse is pretty cool. I'm not sure what that says about me. I get along with everyone, but I wouldn't exactly call myself a lover of people in general. That was the first time in a long while that I have been able to read. Lately I can't concentrate and start to get sleepy whenever I would start reading. I think it is the TV killing me.

Casey has been going to roller derby practice again after a 2 year or so hiatus. We are really working hard to think of a good roller derby name, but not having a lot of luck. Here are the ones I have thought of: Cuntastrophe and Thyme Crisis or Thyme Machine. The real problem is that the names have to be family friendly.

Work has been steady which has been nice. I also started working from home 2 days a week. It is about as great as possible. I still have to work, but I don't have to drive anywhere or shower or any of that other bullshit. I also can read, watch TV, or take the dogs for a walk during my lunch break. I highly reccomend working from home to everyone.

I really want to see There Will Be Blood. Daniel Day Lewis is crazy. We did see Juno on Saturday and I liked it quite a bit. I feel like Jason Bateman's character in that I don't ever want to grow up, but I'm less of a dick than him.

We went to dinner with the old man E. Elz. It was good to see the old boy. It had been quite a long time. We went to Chuy's Mexican restaurant and then got some dessert at this place where his ladyfriend works. He was recently at the Science Center and he wanted Astronaut Ice Cream really bad because he liked it so much as a kid. Then he got some and it was a let down. I will agree with him that they give you too small of a portion, but I still think that stuff is pretty tasty. When I was growing up I always wanted to be an Astronaut. I'm not sure why. It seems like a pain in the ass. I'll just be happy looking at the night sky.

Peanut Shore

So I watched Jury Duty this weekend starring Pauly Shore. (I have had nightmares in the past of typing a sentence like that) Pauly's character in the movie has a little dog and it is named Peanut. I immediately felt like I let my dog and my family down. Not that Pauly Shore hasn't done some fine work like Son in Law and Encino Man (actually those are pretty bad too, but not on the level of bad of Bio Dome and Jury Duty) but it made me wonder if I subconsciously knew that Pauly Shore had a dog named Peanut in his movie and that is why I wanted to name my dog Peanut. Let's hope that is not the case. If it is the case I wish my subconscious would kill itself.

I haven't felt like posting in a while and I apologize. I am very lazy.

Casey and I met Matt Hughes the Ultimate Fighter on Friday night. He was on a book signing tour at the Barnes and Noble in Fenton. One of our friends who is currently in Korea is a big fan of his so we thought we would get his autograph for him. He was a very nice guy and we shook his hand and got some autographs. Unfortunately they sped us through pretty quick and the books only got signed with a name and not any funny stuff. He asked Casey if her nose ring hurt and said that the only way he would let his wife get her nose pierced is if he got to do the piercing. So I put him in an armbar until he begged me to stop. OK I didn't do that, but I thought of some funny things for him to sign on the book if they would have let me. Here are some examples:

Jeff, Sorry about the Armbar XOXO Matt Hughes

Jeff, I hope you enjoyed the Blow J Yours in Christ, Matt Hughes

I had some of my homeboys over to watch football last night. It was fun, but once the Patriots were winning for good we got a little tired of watching that. We started watching Save The Last Dance on cable. Then it seemed like everyone we knew started calling us and we had to tell them that 4 dudes were sitting around on a Saturday Night watching a girlie movie about dancing.

New Movie

I Still Can't Believe I Know What You Did Last Summer Is Not Butter?

Oh and here are some pictures from New Year's Eve at Ashley's house. I think they are pretty good because I don't look like a total chunky lover 53. In case you were worried I do not have my sweet mustache anymore. I kind of wanted to punch myself in the face when I looked in the mirror. I'm not sure why, but you should always go with your gut feelings when it comes to facial hair.

I just realized that every time I walk around in my office I whistle or hum the Legend Of Zelda song that plays while Link is walking around. I think it has something to do with the fact that my office is like a labyrinth of cubicles and walls. I think I might be slightly retarded.

So many things have happened since the last time I had a meaningful post I don't know where to start.

It was good, but non eventful. Do you remember that time that I told you that I wished that I could drive to Fenton for 5 consecutive days? Well I accomplished that goal around Christmas. We started it off with a night of 2 parties. Festivus party at Joe's which was a great time. We played a drinking game called golf and everyone got out of control. Then we went to a low key affair in Fenton once it started snowing. The next few days we went to my parent's house twice and my aunt and uncle's house once (all in Fenton).

Christmas was probably the best day of the bunch with a surprise call from Dr. Widitz. We met up with Dr. Dave, Ingrid, Dr. Greg, Kathy and Kevin at the Moolah. I love the moolah, by the way, even though everyone there is too hip for me. We had some G&Ts and played some parlor games. I had the grand idea of calling Dan O and his lovely bride who had just flew in to St. Louis (and boy were their arms tired?). After pulling them away from their family they showed up and we started our fruitless journey to find food at 1 in the morning. Well there was some fruit found at the gas station. The best pick was Dan's "The Bomb" burrito which probably caused Jeannie to have a wonderful night's sleep.

So overall this Christmas night was way better than last year's when Wicket was upset with us for bringing home Peanut and Peed all over our bed. Then we had to rent a steam cleaner and clean it all day. Hooray!

New Years:

It was a pretty good time at Ashley's. I'm tired of typing.

Iowa Caucus:

Obama won for the democrats which is pretty cool. Huckabee won for the Republicans which I have mixed feelings about because I disagree with just about everything he stands for, but he does hate fat people. He is a recovering fat person.

This weekend I want to read The Road by Cormac McCarthy, play Mario Galaxy and go see some Roller Derby.
